* '''Project Title''': Identification of genomic determinants of phenotypic evolution in ''Pseudomonas aeruginosa''
* Project description: We have previously sequenced the entire genomes of about 20 hospital isolates of ''P. aeruginosa'' and measured their phenotypes including antibiotic resistance, biofilm formation, and swarming motility. An algorithm has been developed to identify genetic variations associated with these phenotypes. The objective of the summer project is to design computational methods to validate the effectiveness of the genotype-phenotype mapping algorithm. Our approach would be to design and implement algorithms to simulate the evolution of traits in bacterial populations.
