On genes, memes, and evolution
Taunt of the Coronavirus
Having jumped from a bat and escaped from a cave I set out to conquer the world devastating millions unseen and in total silence I have a dozen genes, while you have thirty thousand I have no mind while you write poetry and make music You sequenced every base of my genome Yet I trapped you in homes and behind the masks with no end in sight The human and the virus One is the knowledgeable but on its knees One is the primitive but nevertheless powerful In the game of life, we are all equals Your rational mind is no match for my random mutations Look down on me as you wish Ravage the earth as you please Take me seriously, I may just give you a break Treat me with respect, I may return to my cave with bats
